Howdy! I'm just wondering if you have any advice about how to introduce a gal to the WA coast when she has never been there? I'm almost too involved with the county and state government to know what is actually available for the public to access...

I like Backpacker Magazine’s Trail Guides: Washington State Trails, they offer you the ability to pull waypoints from the site for your GPS, print trail maps including terrain and topo maps.  They also have lots of people that add their perspective on the trails. And it is all free.  Unlike some other sites..

The second place I would look to familiarize myself with the parks in the area is the Washington State Park’s Department site.

You could also look into these two helpful Hiking Guides:

Good if you are going to Hike around the Seattle Area

Good if you are going to any place in the northwest.

I hope this gives you some ideas of where to start looking, and I am sure others have opinions of where you can find more info…

Happy Hiking!
